HOW TO HELP

DONATEWe have set up a Gambia - Sand to Sea page at JustGiving for contributions at http://www.justgiving.com/gambia-sandtosea. This is a simple, fast and totally secure way of contributing to the Chain of Hope. Your details are safe and, once you donate, your money is sent directly to the charity. Donations from UK taxpayers through JustGiving are eligible for Gift Aid which means that charities can get an additional 25 per cent for every eligible donation.

For those living in The Gambia, we can accept cash donations (details to follow). Written receipts will be provided, and any sums raised in this way will also be added to the JustGiving page as 'offline donations' towards our total target.

All money raised by Gambia - Sand to Sea will of course go directly to the Chain of Hope charity, and be used exclusively for children with heart disease in The Gambia. The organisers and riders are covering their own costs for transport, accommodation and so on and will not benefit personally in any way.

Even a small donation to our ride and the Chain of Hope can make a huge difference to a family in The Gambia with a child with heart disease.

The average monthly wage of a Gambian in paid employment is just £30. Here are some of the things that the Chain of Hope can help them with.
  • £16 — Pays for a monthly blood clotting test for a child on anticoagulant medicine after surgery.
  • £25 — Cost of a cardiac ECHO in Dakar (hospital bill alone).
  • £80 — Travel to Dakar from The Gambia for a cardiac ECHO (including hospital bill, transport, subsistence, and accommodation).
  • £180 — Cost of two visas (patient and accompanying person) for travel to the UK for surgery.
  • £5,000 — Price for one child's cardiac surgery abroad (when everything goes well and quickly without complications).
Please help if you can, and thank you for your support.
